about

Since its inception in 2007, Global Changemakers, a British Council programme, has been creating and supporting a growing global network of young social entrepreneurs and community activists aged between 16 and 25, helping them become Global Changemakers. The growing global network shares ideas, experiences and best practices in order to help young people make practical and visible differences in their communities, countries and regions.

We are currently working with the World Economic Forum (WEF), UN agencies and other partner NGOs to provide opportunities for Changemakers to voice the concerns of youth around the world, empowering them to make a positive change.

Through Global Changemakers, the British Council will act as:

Connector: Bringing together young activists to debate issues, develop action plans and act on these plans as a global network.

Enabler: Developing the skills of the participants and provide opportunities and resources otherwise beyond their reach, thereby enabling them to become global changemakers.

Amplifier: Supporting participants in developing and running community action programmes (CAPs), ensuring that there is cooperation between those programmes and participants. Through the CAPs, participants will cascade their experience to other potential changemakers. Furthermore, by giving access to global platforms such as WEF and UN events, Global Changemakers gives participants a voice to engage with global leaders.
