CAPs Friday 10/7/09

Scott, one of our UK Changemakers, has been busy working on his ambitious CAP. Here's what he writes:

STIMULUS is pleased to announce, an exciting new project and venture, taking place in the spring of 2010. Global Forum 40 will bring together forty young people, from across the Globe to San Patrignano, in Rimini Italy for a weeks forum on the 11th April to 16th April 2010. Where these young people will be engaging in a number of exciting activities, as well as sharing information and knowledge on a number of key sexual health issues, with the main focus being HIV and AIDS.

You may be wondering why Italy? Well San Patrignano is a breathtaking organization, that works with young men and women who have serious drug abuse problems, regardless of ideology, social background, or religion. Since 1978, San Patrignano has taken in over 18,000 young people from across the world, offering them a home, healthcare, legal assistance, and the opportunity to study, learn a job, change their lives, and regain their status as full members of society. But the one thing that is so inspirational about this organization, is the fact it receives no funding from the clients families, nor does it receive funding from the Government. It's main source of funding comes from fresh food products, which are sold across the World in many leading restaurants, which enables them to provide this great work for many of these young people... We are absolutely honoured to be working in partnership with this organization, I for one would like to thank San Patrignano for its kind donation of the venue and for all the other conference amenities, we believe that this will be an amazing opportunity for everyone of those lucky 40 participating in Global Forum 40.

Linked here you can find an expression of interest (Word document). If you would like participate in the Global Forum 40 please fill it in and e mail it to : .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Please note that the deadline of the submission of this form will be no later than the 21st August 2009, all applicants will then be notified as to what the second stage involves, we look forward to receiving your expressions of interest.

With thanks,

Scott  and the UK Global Forum 40 team.
