The blog entry you are about to read was totally inspired by Jorge Menchaca’s faith and patriotism after the earthquake the past 27th of February back in Chile. I took the right to update, translate and share it with GCM family. (Maria Jesus Satta)
ES TIEMPO DE CAMBIAR, IT’S TIME TO CHANGE.
Have you realized what the nature is trying to do? What is it trying to tell us by taking away what has always belonged to it? This is not a coincidence. It is just the powerful way Nature has to force human to meditate and break down; how are we living? How do we act? What do we do it for? How much do we care about others? If you haven’t realized this yet... then no earthquakes, diseases, tsunamis or eruptions could make you see it.
Last week in Iceland a volcanic eruption made 800 people run away. Surprisingly, we only get to listen about the huge economical impact this disaster will have, as if that’s the only message we could get from that happening... Strong telluric movements, China is suffering now. At any moment another pandemic flu could travel around the world, just like the swine flu did last year. Severe drought has hit the world, more than 80 people died this month in India because of the high temperatures. These and a lot of other examples going on in our communities should make us re state our position towards mother Earth.
Assuming that we can’t continue doing the same happens in revolution time, but this revolution is not citizens using rifles and weapons. No guerrillas, no military interventions and no more kids trapped by violence. This revolution challenges us to look at us as a whole. It challenges us to change all the paradigms, to understand that individualism, bad competition, selfishness and richness make any real sense. In the case of Concepción,Chile for example. Millions in the bank accounts! What for? After the earthquake... despair and desolation, and the only people they had was their neighbors. And it was just an unknown neighbor (after living a whole life right next to them!). How self-contradictory.
We were all taught at school about the systems. How joining parts or organizing elements can get us to the objective. Our objective should be Not living alone. Knowing there is someone right next to us, and that we could be a piece of change in his life. Why do we need to go through hard times to acknowledge that fact?
Take a look and think about you. How can you contribute for this new way of life? A more humane life, where doing the correct thing is not being an asshole. Where women, children and young people are taken in count, where volunteers are admired, and where we are not afraid of saying we love each other. A place where we can say that we need from others and that for living this life and enjoying it is not necessarily related to have, but it has to do with something loftier and important that is to be.
We invite you to dream about this new world, to admit that we can’t forget about the one next to us. Paradise is not in heaven, paradise started exactly in the moment we were born. It is there when God gave us the key for the Promised Land. This magnificent and unique gift is in our hands.
Can you be better? Then ACT!
