Activism, General, Guildford 2009
Hi, my name is Scott, I'm 19 years old and I live in London.

I am active, lively and I love to engage in new experiences, but most of all I enjoy working as part of a team - as well as helping to organise broad scale events. My hobbies consist of athletics, modern tap and jazz, politics, tennis and squash but mainly acting; of which I have enjoyed many years as part of 'The National Youth Theatre'. Taking part in many performances across the UK and in London's West End, performing for the likes off; Cherie Blair QC, The Rt.Hon David Lammy MP, Ricky Gervais, Sir Tom Stoppard and Sir Arnold Wesker. I also have a great passion for reading especially 'The Complete Works of William Shakespeare', as well as catching up with freinds for meals and not forgetting spending time with family members.

In September 2008, I started University studying Law at King's College London, with the wish of doing an MA in International Childhood, Rights, and Globalization at Harvard University.
As an activist I have played an active part in The British Youth Council (BYC), starting out as a BYC Campaigner way back in November 2007, campaigning on issues which are important too us as young people in the UK such as; Vote's at 16, The Education and Skill's Bill and many more. Then in June 2008, I was lucky to secure a four month internship within BYC, in the role of a Campaign's Intern. It was my job to help co-ordinate five major campaigns, as well as researching potential links, with other organizations that will support BYC's campaigns such as; NUS, Girl Guides and Scouts.

But most of all I helped to support 248 BYC Campaigners, as well as attending events on behalf of BYC; from motivating and empowering young people too engage in politics, lobbying MP's and Decision Makers, taking part in a demonstration to 'End Child Poverty' and marching with BYC Campaigners in the 'LOVE.EUROPE.RIGHT Project' through Central London. My time volunteering with BYC, has been truly amazing and the best part about it all is the fact, that I have inspired other young people to take an active part in their communities.
I am really looking forward too participating in this event, mainly because we will get to know so many great young activists from all over the globe, people that share the same passions and drives. But most of all I believe we will have great discussions , on a whole range of issues that affect us as young people, and also hopefully we'll be able too make a change too our society's we live in. As we are all in some ways affected by what takes place in our communities, or within the World such as the current economic crisis and at the end of the day, we are the voice off the next generation.
