Pittsburgh Summit 2009

| Share

In just under two weeks time the G20 will reconvene in Pittsburgh, the meeting will give Leaders the opportunity to take check of the progress made and discuss further actions, to assure a sound recovery from the global economic and financial crisis.

Global Changemakers at the G20

Earlier in April during the London Summit, 21 of us Global Changemakers came together to work alongside these Leaders, ensuring that we as young people had a voice at the table. We met with leading economists, decision makers and World Leaders themselves such as; the Rt.Hon Gordon Brown PM, HE President Felipe Calderon, the Rt.Hon Alistair Darling MP and the Rt.Hon David Miliband MP.

We as Global Changemakers that attended the London Summit, put forward a communique which outlined three key areas, that we felt were urgent priorities in this current Globe. The Foreign Secretary accepted our communique and ensured that he would see that these issues were taken forward to the Summit, we were generally pleased by the outcome of the London Communique, although we did express some disappointment over certain issues that we felt could of been more prioritised.

Looking ahead to the Pittsburgh Summit, I really hope these Leaders standby their commitments to the Communique decided upon in London, it will be really interesting to hear whether any progress has actually been made and how they propose to continue to strengthen these aims.

Over the next few weeks a team of us will be posting various blogs in the lead up to the Pittsburgh Summit and of course sharing our views on the outcomes of the Summit...

    That’s great news !
Did you guys put forward some of your key points ?
The Economic Crisis is something very important , & for what I think , everybody attending the events related should be given a chance to express their point of view , in whatever form it may be , vocal or as a presentation .

Because the Youth are the Ones that would be dealing with it in the future !

As economies start tasting the recovery, growth rates slightly go back to the acceptable level, and it seems to us that the mission is accomplished. Actually, bringing up the darkest side of my soul, I think this crisis showed up in proper times, it made masks fall; it clarified who needs who, it made some bow down, it even made a group of young activist travel worldwide to say something.

The progress made on the G20 Summit has been rewarding, it could have been much more but as it has not finished yet it is our duty to track and trace the steps taken from the leaders. We commit ourselves to watching them over and making sure that our communiqué shall be once again read and remembered, and the issues we address as pressing ones be subject of discussion

We will be here, proceeding with our initiatives, keeping the eye on the next Summit and talking about everything relevant.

Sweating hugs from the melting weather nation, but still perfect Brazil! lol

Is there a group of Globalchanger makers to attend Pittsburgh Summit 2009 as in London? I hope some of you can go and bring new voice there.
