The Day after….

I write this with such pride and excitement - can hardly contain myself! However, I'll keep a lid on it so that I can finish this...So, yesterday was the D -Day arrived for the team of 6 young people that had come to be known as the Davos 6 to use all the things they learned over the past week and a half into practice. That includes listening skills, remembering to sit in a way that allows you to breath and move freely and most importantly, messages they were carrying on behalf of 54 other equally energetic, wise and just incredible young people all over the world and boy they did not disappoint!

If you have not seen the session please go "WEF ‘Future Shifts' Session Full Length video" blog on this website's page and watch it. The session basically was a discussion with young peopl about the role that they can play or are already playing through their activism and Gillion put this beautifully when he said that ‘we are here to reach out to world leaders and tell them how they can help us. The team had a definite presence on stage and made it clear they meant business by explaining things clearly, giving practical examples of issues they were raising and therefore making them realistic - I'm glad to see that they actually listened to the advice they got before hand!

Some of my personal highlights are when Rhadeena said: "If we don't do anything to make things better, we're not worth our salt". Juan managed to bring tears to my face as he verbally expressed how I feel about my activism and passion for empowering people: "it's about giving children the opportunity to be children, to go to school and not worry about having to go find work and support their family, but to enable them to get good education, which is a means to a whole lot of opportunities" - this is not n exact quote but he said something to that effect - made me want to hug him! Because for me and I believe for whoever is an activist on whatever level, it is about enabling people to reach their potential and contribute to society. Whitney's concrete examples rocked, Yunan and Nick made very clear, straight to the point and powerful statements that will definitely be remembered! Gillion gets thumbs up for being able to always pull in a challenge to business people in his statements.

So, once again well done to the Guildford 60 for selecting the team to represent you, because they did not disappoint and well done to the team for doing so fabulously well!

Congratulations to all of you who are in Davos. The session brought tears to my eyes. I am so proud of you, you used all the tips and you were yourselves.
The whole team is incredible from the ‘oldies’ downwards. The mutual support and teamwork has been wonderful to experience. Although we have come from all kinds of backgrounds, BC, school, training, film, work , journalism, we were one voice. Thank you so much.
