In January 2008 the British Council brought sixty Global Changemakers from around the world to Guildford, UK for a week of workshops, discussions and visits to community-based organisations.
Their goal was twofold: to choose six of their own who would represent them at the WEF Annual Meeting in Davos, and to begin development of their Community Action Projects (CAPs).
At the WEF Annual Meeting, the six representatives - Gillion from South Africa, Rhadeena from Sri Lanka, Juan from Argentina, Yunan from China, Whitney from the United States and Nick from Scotland - spoke about the significance in their lives of community activism. They addressed issues such as climate change, AIDS/HIV and education. You can see their session here:
